Vada R Stone

Vada Rhea Stone died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at home with loved ones and her angels surrounding her. Vada was born October 30, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa to Harold and Bessie (Key) Lillie, and was proud to be a descendent of Francis Scott Key on her mother’s side. She grew up on a farm in Iowa, and moved to Fremont in 1953. After completing her education at Fremont High School, she wore many hats throughout her work life. Vada loved traveling all around the U.S., and spending time with her many friends, playing cards, bunko, dice, and dominoes, and going to casinos in many states. She was a voracious reader and completed the crossword puzzle every day in ink! She loved attending the sporting, school, music and dance recitals of her children and grandchildren. Vada always loved to dance and listened to all types of music, and a favorite thing to do was attending concerts, theater productions and musicals. This is a passion she shared with her grandchildren, especially Jason and Emily. Vada also spent considerable time doing volunteer work, helping in the lunchroom at Howard Elementary School for many years and at the Fremont Crisis Center as well as at charity events in the community. Vada was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers as well as her beloved youngest daughter Carol Schaulis. Survivors include her many “best” friends - Jan, Fergy, Sherri, Lois, Nora, Barb and the many wonderful friends she collected over the years while traveling, playing cards, dice and bunko and being an amazingly fun person to be around. She will be greatly missed by her children, Ron and Samantha (Jordan) Schaulis of Nebraska City, David Schaulis of Danbury Connecticut, and Connie and David Giese of Fremont, as well as her “special son” Gary and Kathy Stone of Illinois. Vada’s ten awesome grandchildren are Jason Schaulis, Heath Schaulis, Kara Snodgrass, Briana Schaulis, Jordan Giese, Adam Smith, Madaline Jordan, Megan Giese, Emily Giese and Chloe Schaulis and the six great-grandchildren are Jacob, Will, Brooks, Makenna, Kensley and Raelyn.
