Ruth E. Conley

Ruth E. Stephens Conley died on November 30, 2019 at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott. Born October 17, 1926 in Carryville, Ark. to M.L. and Ethel (Henson) Stephens, Ruth was the seventh of eight children. She cherished her memories of Clay County and her childhood, recalling especially her days living in rural Carryville, Arkansas. Saved at an early age, Ruth remained faithful her entire life. At 16, she moved briefly to michigan during World War II. Returning to Arkansas, she married Pharis W. Conley in November 1946. The Conleys raised three children Deborah Conley Cole, Kole A. Conley, and Jon P. Conley in Pollard. <iframe id="tukios_player_512x330" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/YYYD2K85QHB2ZF5M" width="512"></iframe> Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Elbert (Eb), John (Jay), Leonard, and infant brother Martin Stephens; Sisters Mary Crowson, Eunice Butler, Ellen O’dell; and her husband Pharis and daughter Deborah. She is survived by her sons Kole (Karen) Conley, and Jon Conley; grandchildren Brad (Jennifer) Cole, Jonathan (Merideth) Cole, Justin (Ingrid) Cole, Bryce Conley, Whitney (Logan) Hall, and Kailyn Conley- (TJ) Harris; great-grandchildren Madison, Miller, and Mason Cole, Maggie Burchfield, Everett Conley, Everleigh Hall, Payton Harris, Alaura and Lillian Conley-Harris. A member of New Hope Baptist Church, Ruth loved working and continued to do so well into her 80s. During her career, she worked for Elmer Johnson at a Pollard grocery, the Pollard Gin Company, a slaughter house in Corning owned by the Conleys, Gossard, and Rebel Market. She worked at Country Mart Piggott until 2013. A public visitation will be held at Hoggard & Sons funeral home on Monday December 2 from 6 - 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 3 at 11 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.
