Reggie and Myra Loy After over 50 years of marriage, high school sweethearts and Burlington natives, Reggie and Myra Loy died a mere handful of hours apart. Myra Grant Loy died peacefully on May 20th, 2016. She was born on April 24, 1945 to Howard and Thelma Grant. Freeman “Reggie” Loy followed Myra in death after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s, on May 21st, 2016. He was born on March 8, 1943 to Freeman and Rena Loy. Their love was so great that neither wanted to make their final journey without the other. Reggie and Myra are survived by their children, William (Chris) Loy and Pamela Pizzi; and their grandchildren, Ashton Loy, Bryce Loy and Jacob Took and Myra’s sisters, Glenda Greene and Sherry Grant. They will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Reggie graduated from Burlington’s Williams High School ’61 and then North Carolina State University with a degree in Computer Science. He worked in a lifelong career as a computer programmer. Myra graduated from Burlington’s Williams High School ’63 and then attended secretarial school. Reggie and Myra were married in Burlington, NC and decided to raise a family beginning in ‘66. Over the years, Reggie and Myra lived in Raleigh (NC), Greensboro (NC), Richmond (VA), Fairfax (VA), and Longwood (FL), before retiring back to Gibsonville (NC). In retirement, Reggie and Myra enjoyed reconnecting with their North Carolina roots, spending time with friends and family as well as caring for their dogs, Toby and Angel. A celebration of Reggie and Myra’s lives will be held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at 11am. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 9:45 -10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States in their honor.
