Michael Drahl

Michael John Drahl, 74, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2019. He was born in Newark, NJ, on August 9, 1945, to the late Michael G. and Corinne S. Drahl (née Caproni). He graduated from Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, NJ, and went on to earn B.A. and M.A. degrees from Morehead State University of Kentucky, where he played competitive soccer and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Michael served honorably in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, stationed in Korea. He worked for Foster Wheeler Corporation and for AT&T – Submarine Systems. Michael was a devoted husband and father. A car buff and onetime proud owner of a Porsche 924, he loved to fish and to watch classic 1930s-era horror films. He enjoyed eating clams on the half shell at Wildwood Crest and Seaside Heights, and cooking Taylor ham and eggs in the wee hours of the morning. Most of all, he treasured spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. Surviving along with his loving wife Maria, are his brother William, sister Francine and husband Andrew Alcorn, brother-in-law Antonio García-Mallol, daughter Carmen Frances and husband Jason Fehr, son Michael Antonio, and grandson Alexander Joaquín Fehr. Visitation will be held at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ, on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ, on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00am with Reverend David J. Pekola as the Celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery on Oxford Street, Belvidere, NJ.
