William F. Cahalane, Jr. “Bill”, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 22, 2019. Bill, of Lynn, was the son of William and Mary Lou (Maney) Cahalane of West Harwich, MA. Brother of Maura Shield & her husband, Kevin, of Chelmsford, MA and Noreen Cahalane of Needham and West Harwich, MA. Loving uncle to Billy and Mariah Shield. Grandson of the late Robert and Helen (Walsh) Cahalane and Henry and Mary (Harrington) Maney. Bill also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles and cousins in the USA and Ireland. Bill graduated from St. Pius V School and St. John’s Prep. He received a BS in Chemistry from Worcester Polytech and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Temple University. He did postdoctoral research in Materials Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Bill was an avid cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows. He loved spending time on Cape Cod, particularly at the beach where he took long ocean swims. Bill also enjoyed cycling, tennis, and nature. He loved all family gatherings and celebrations. Calling hours are Saturday, November 30th, from 9 – 11 AM at Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Lynn followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St, Lynn. On Saturday, December 7th, 9 AM Mass at Holy Trinity Church, West Harwich will be followed by entombment at the Holy Trinity Memorial Wall.
