Jack Wellington Turner Jr., age 81, of Commerce Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 28, 1938 in Fort Riley, Kansas and grew up in the Adirondacks with a love of downhill skiing. He has now finished his time with us, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of nearly 60 years and his family as he departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Jack Wellington Turner Sr. and Jean (Raymond), and his sister, Shirley (Robert) Stomierowski. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Pryor) Turner, whom he married on December 25, 1959. In addition, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Thomas) Pfaff, and son, Lance (Melissa) Turner. He was also blessed with his grandchildren Adam (Samantha) Pfaff, Emily (Matthew) Blanford, Sydney Gene Turner and Cameron Wellington Turner, as well as his great granddaughter, Mona Mara Pfaff. He is also survived by his sister, Brooke (Michael) Watson of San Diego, California. He retired from General Motors as Technical Director Development & Test NAO MCD, but continued to be available via his Nextel, as most know. With his wife, Becky, and many supporting friends, he cultivated an equestrian estate into Wellington Acres, which acts as the Commerce Proving Grounds for backhoes, tractors, and past/present GM products. He was an audiophile and loved target shooting, corn roasts, feeding the birds, and all things Apple and Amazon. His true joy was spending time with his great and grand children and their parents. He was a phenomenal role model to many and always found the best friends and neighbors to share in his life. At his request, there will be a private memorial service in late December. His burial will take place at Milford Memorial Cemetery, Milford, MI. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 / 1-800-805-5856.
