Hans Strauss

STRAUSS, Ernst Hans March 2, 1927 – November 21, 2019 It is with deep sadness that we, that the family of Dr. Hans Strauss, announce his passing. After a period of declining health due to heart disease, he died peacefully at Health Sciences North, at the age of 92. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, son John, daughter Heidi, son-in-law Jeremy Mimnagh, grandchildren: Chloe Strauss, Max Strauss and Liam Mimnagh, and, in Germany, niece Cornelia Strauss and nephews Friedrich and Matthias Strauss. Born in Leipzig, Germany, Hans immigrated to Canada in 1954. He first worked as a furrier in Montreal then went on to earn his PhD in economics from McGill University. He moved to Sudbury in 1967 where he taught at Laurentian University until 2002. Hans had a creative and adventurous spirit. He loved to paint, take photos, sing in the choir, travel, fish, boat and cross-country ski. He poured much love into the family camp, the site of many great family memories. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Sunday December 8th, 2019 at 2pm (Friends may gather after 1:15pm) For those who wish, memorial donations to Health Sciences North Foundation would be appreciated.
