Joan Elizabeth Soullier, age 74, lifelong resident of Cheboygan died at Hospice House on Friday December 11, 2015. The daughter of Joseph Wm. And Elizabeth Louise (LeBlanc) Beaugrand, Joan was born in Cheboygan on July 2, 1941. She married Elmer J. Soullier, Jr. at St. Mary's Church on April 30, 1958. An amazing wife and mother, Joan was always busy around her home. If she wasn't cooking and canning, she was busy with her sewing projects. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, going to the casino, and painting. Curious about her heritage, Joan became very interested in genealogy and loved researching her ancestry. Joan and Elmer enjoyed traveling in a motor home all across the United States and Canada, making it to every state except for Alaska. Not only did they make wonderful memories but many friends along the way as well. Surviving Joan is her daughter, Carol (Frank) Tolstyka; sons, Robert (Susan), William (Nidia), and Christopher (Lisa) Soullier, all of Cheboygan; 11 grandchildren, Kevin, Matt, Kristen, Sarah, Jacob, Jessica, Wyatt, Corey, Kayla, Coty, and Tyler; and seven great grandchildren. Joan also leaves two brothers, Robert (Vivian) Beaugrand of Las Vegas, NV and Paul Beaugrand of Cheboygan; two sisters, Judy (Tom) Baker of Cheboygan and Elaine Doner of Tennessee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elmer, on February 9, 2015; daughter, Pearl Ann; brother, Ralph Beaugrand; and her parents. Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held next summer when Joan is laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Cheboygan.
