Holland-"Jim" Robert James Peret, 72, passed away after a short illness on November 22, 2019. Born October 12, 1947 in Boston, MA, he was the son of Paul Joyner and Betty (Slater) Joyner. Jim lived in Enfield, CT for a number of years and was known as Jim Sweet. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for 3 years, 11 months, and 21 days. Completing his undergraduate degree at Wentworth, Jim went on to receive his MBA from Nichols. For the past 46 years, Jim has lived in Holland. For many years, he was an assessor for the town. As an industrial engineer, Jim worked at NYPRO for 29 years. He was part of the Society of Plastics Engineers, most recently was an Emeritus board member. Jim enjoyed playing cribbage and loved to laugh. His friendly, outgoing personality will be dearly missed. Jim's greatest passion was his family. Time spent with his children and grandchildren brought him the most joy. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Lynette (Roncin) as well as his former wife and friend, Karen (Krzyminski) Peret. Jim's love will remain with his four children, Heather (Peret) Briere and husband Daniel of Holland, James Peret and Isabelle Berthet of Holland, Kaitlin (Peret) Storm and Bryce Mahan of Holland and Matthew Peret also of Holland. Lynette's children, Frank Frascella and Sophie Jilus of Veron, CT, and Anthony Frascella of NJ along with siblings, William and Cindi Sweet, Walter and Carole Sweet, Pauline Sweet and Richard Benoit, and brother-in-law, Ray Classen, will all dearly miss Jim as well. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Robert and Andrew Briere, Toby and Maxten Peret and their mother Rochelle, Jayden Storm and Damian Mahan along with good friends, the late Earl Johnson and George Hemingway as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Ralph G. Sweet, Jr. and his sister, Ruth Classen. Visitation will be Monday, Nov 25th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A celebration of Jim's life will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at Holland Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association.
