Edgar Dew

Edgar Turner Dew 96, of Sun City West, AZ went to be with his Lord on November 18, 2019. Edgar was born September 28, 1923, 1 of 7 children in Duluth, MN to Ernest and Ruth Dew. Edgar accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at a very early age. Throughout his life he served the Lord in many capacities to include Sunday school teacher, and sharing the gift of music given by God. He instilled the love of God in his children’s lives. Edgar was educated in Duluth, MN and later attended Wayne County Community College in Michigan taking Music Appreciation. Edgar was inducted into the Army-Air Corp in April 1943 as a medical assistant. However, it was discovered that he was an affluent musician and he was transferred to the Army-Air Corp band and was discharged February, 1946. After the service Edgar began a 35+ year career in the United States Postal Service. While this was his occupation his heart and gift was his music. Edgar played in many settings throughout his life with a large following of fans, friends, and family. Edgar and Ethel met at Clinton Street Greater Bethlehem Temple, in Michigan and were married November 18, 1972, a long and happy marriage of 47 years. They served in the church together in many capacities. Edgar leaves to cherish his memory: wife Ethel, 4 children – Edgar Jerome & Gloria Dew, Marvin Dew, Diane Dew, and stepson Lloyd & Karen Foulks. Grandchildren Kenisha Parham, Christina Anderson and 6 great grandchildren, brothers Leonard Dew, Duane (Margaret) Dew and sister Jeanette Roach, Sister-in Law Shirley Dew. Edgar was predeceased by sisters Lucille Warr and Mary Guthrie, and brother Earnest Dew. Edgar will be remembered as Uncle “Ed”, Uncle “Dew”, “Daddy Dew” as well as Uncle Edgar by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as cousins. Edgar will be missed by his devoted family, friends and Church friends. Christ Community Church friends loved their friend “Dew.” The committal service will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
