Wanda Tysseling

Wanda Tysseling, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Lisk) Sarver was born May 20, 1924, in Rose Hill, Iowa. She was a graduate of Rose Hill High School, Class of 1942 and attended Teachers College. Wanda taught country school and it was there she met Marion L. Tysseling. Their first date was December 31, 1942 and they were united in marriage on June 15, 1944 in the Community Church, Sully, Iowa. They lived in the Leighton, Peoria and Prairie City areas, then in 1969, moved to Newton. Wanda worked for JC Penny from 1970 until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church and enjoyed family, gardening and sewing. She was an avid participant and fund raiser for Walk For Life. Wanda Tysseling, 95, of Newton, Iowa, entered the gates of heaven on November 21, 2019. She was preceded by her husband Marion L. Tysseling, son Nelson Tysseling, brothers Ralph Sarver, Donald Sarver, sisters Eva Baughman Leets, Retha Abrams, Neta Snakenberg and Doris Malley. Those left to honor the memory of Wanda include her son Duane (Char) Tysseling of Des Moines, Iowa, daughters Linda (Gene) Snetselaar of Altoona, Iowa, Shirley (Dan) Grasso of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Mary (Jim) Wood of Newton, Iowa, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the Community Heights Alliance Church.
