Norman Jones Obituary

Norman Jones, age 94 died on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Norman was born on July 10, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas to Jesse H. Jones and Olive (Moneypenny) Jones. Norman was a patriot and served his country in WWII as a member of the U.S. Navy. Norman was a member of the United Methodist Church for an excess of eighty years and his grandfather was a circuit rider Methodist minister. He had a passion for music which was spilled down into his family over the years. Norman graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Geology. He loved his rocks. Norman was a man of strong integrity. Norman possessed no prejudices of any kind and this was evident in how loved he was by all those around him. Norman was the guy you could depend on for anything. He was a gentle soul and this manifested in powerful relational bonds that developed with ease. Norman loved his family and remained committed to their care. His wonderful character was recognized in his speech. He never had a cross word to say about anyone. Norman was faithful to his loving wife for fifty-eight and half years and is now with her again where he will remain her “designated listener” for eternity. Norman was a man with a great reputation. This reputation certainly preceded him in how he was known to others. Today he is in glory and there is no better place to be. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edna Wendt Jones; brothers Harold and Bernard Jones; and son Gary M. Jones. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Debby Rudd; daughter in law Bonnie Jones; granddaughters Robin Bowyer and Jessica Jones; great grandsons Logan Jones and Rhett Bowyer; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends. An inurnment with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
