Barbara J. Mathes

Corydon, Indiana Barbara J. Mathes, 80, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born March 27, 1939 in Harrison County, Indiana the daughter of John and Inez Helfrich Askren. She worked in the Harrison County Court House for a span of 40 years and was Deputy Recorder, Deputy Auditor and Deputy Clerk of Harrison County, all with her husband as he held these offices and she herself was Harrison County Clerk of Circuit Court. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers David and John Askren. She is survived by her husband, Jesse L. Mathes, two sons Doug Mathes and Chuck Mathes (Debby) and daughter, Debra Mathes all of Corydon, IN.; sister, Harriet Binkley of New Salisbury, IN; grandchildren, Charles Mathes (Kendra), Maggie Owens (Bobby), Logan Mathes (Jessie), Michael Mathes (Reba), Elliot Mathes, Andrea Orme (Scotty) and J Mathes; great grandchildren, Kairi, Charlie, Aurora, Leona and Abram Mathes, Harper and Henry Owens and Bailey Orme. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 23, 2019. Rev. Andy Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 and on Saturday from 9 AM until 2 PM.
