Cecil Lynn DeRoin Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, brother and poppa, Cecil “Lynn” DeRoin, departed this life on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019, reaching the age of 57. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Cecil Maxwell DeRoin and Marcella Sue Passarelli on June 12, 1962. Lynn grew up traveling the country in the rodeo arena. He was a world champion bull rider in the All Indian Rodeo Circuit. Lynn’s heart has always been farming and animals. He enjoyed a good hunt and fishing. He was an avid pool player and loved spending time with his friends at the “bowling alley.” It wasn’t uncommon to hear a Ric Flair “Woooo” after walking in the door with some hardware. Lynn enjoyed his time being the GM at WSS, where he made many life long friends. Lynn was a member of the Bear Clan and was very proud of his prominent DeRoin family of the Otoe-Missouria tribe. He was known for helping people whenever he was needed. He spent the last 10 years of his life employed by the tribe, helping on many projects around campus where he was a heavy equipment operator. He worked on several tribal projects including casino expansions, AWL, and Otoe Battlefields. Lynn enjoyed spending time with his grandkids on the weekends and going to the casino with his wife. His favorite pastime was cooking for his family, especially his famous breakfast, or a big holiday meal. He was survived by his wife Tina; son Dustin Higgins and his companion Shawna, and their son howdy; Daughter Lindsey Sanders and her children Amaya, Brooklyn, and Callista; son Robert Jefferson and his children, Larissa, Nathan, and Kaidence; son Justin Jefferson and his daughter Audrina; son Cash Putnam and his companion Cindy, and their children Mason, Matticin, and Shelby; son Cory DeRoin and his husband Thurman; Daughter Dani DeRoin and her companion Devyn, and their children Davyn and Heston; daughter Darci DeRoin; and 1 great- grand baby, Avianna, daughter of Jajee and Callista. He is also survived by his sister Lesa DeRoin; brother Justin DeRoin and his wife Rachel; other siblings, many relatives friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his four legged best friend, Scrappy Doo. We invite friends and family to visit at the home in Red Rock, OK where he will be until 10 AM on Friday. Viewing at the Otoe-Missouria cultural center will begin at 11 AM Friday. There will be a small service at noon, and then a buffet style dinner to follow. Interment will be at the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery.
