NEW BEDFORD-Peter M. Sanzano, 88 of New Bedford, died Friday, April 15, 2016 at The Oaks, following a period of declining health.  He was the son of the late Pietro and Dolores (DeAngelis) Sanzano and the husband for 65 years of Dolores (Botelho) Sanzano.  He was born in Flushing, New York, residing most of his life in New Bedford. Mr. Sanzano was formerly employed by the City of New Bedford as a Superintendent for the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1991.  He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army.  Mr. Sanzano was a member of the St. Hedwig's Senior Club.  He enjoyed casual gambling and enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas, Foxwoods and other casinos.  His greatest joy came from attending sporting events and all special occasions with his grandchildren. Survivors include His Wife: Dolores (Botelho) Sanzano of New Bedford; Daughter: Susan Baptiste and her husband Wayne of New Bedford; Sister: Frances Hodgkins of St. Petersburg, Florida;  2 Granddaughters: Tanya Viera and Heather Saccocia; 4 Great Grandchildren: Corey Viera, Lindsey Viera, Avery Saccocia and Payton Saccocia; Several Nieces & Nephews.  He was the brother of the late Ann LaSala, Carmela "Minnie" Sanzano and John Sanzano. His funeral will be conducted Tuesday morning 9:00 in the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:00.  Visiting hours Monday evening from 4:00-7:00.  Interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
