Mary Simon Michael "Emily" of Grosse Pointe Farms, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019. She was born in Detroit to Simon and Sadie (Sead) Michael. After her graduation from Ss. Peter and Paul High School in Detroit, Emily began her career at B. Siegel, starting as a salesgirl and worked her way up to become a very well respected buyer. Her work ethic and integrity were honored amongst her peers & associates. An article in the Free Press indicated she was "the Champ Buyer" recognizing her accomplishments and showing her heartfelt respect. One of the great gifts was her ability to mentor young sales associates. She made it her mission to help them progress in their careers. Em was also an active member at St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church in Detroit. Her dedication and commitment to the church earned her a Papal Blessing. She was a member of the church's Hasroun Society, always making sure the altar was decorated and the church was ready for Mass and events. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Emily always put other's needs ahead of her own. She was known for her hospitality, ensuring guests were made comfortable with their surrounds and making others feel important all the time She will be missed by her loving son, Joe (Sharon); her sister, Josephine Saigh; her brother, Jimmy Michael, and her many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Michael, Mike Michael, Anne Meda, and George Michael. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 3-8pm with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Friday, November 22, 2019; Instate 9:30am until the time of Mass, 10:00am at St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church, 11466 Kercheval Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church, the Capuchins (www.thecapuchins.org), or to a charity of your choice.
