Harry Gerald "Jerry" Scruggs, 69, was born in Memphis in 1950 to Harry U. Scruggs, Jr. and Jeanne Harmon Scruggs. He grew up in Memphis and attended White Station Elementary School. Later Jerry moved to a Boarding School in Plano, Texas for several years and returned back to Memphis after he graduated. He worked for several companies over the years in Memphis. He was trained as an aircraft mechanic. Later he worked for AERO Blueprint for a number of years copying and delivering architectural plans and documents to General Contractors and Subcontractors. The folks at AERO were very kind and thoughtful to him. He enjoyed every day that he worked there. His favorite past-time was enjoying his jet boat on Pickwick Lake every weekend in the Spring, Summer and early Fall. Sometimes the family would just stay out overnight in a tent enjoying the peace and quiet of the area. Jerry died on Sunday, November 17, 2019. He leaves his sister, Shirley Scruggs Howell (Alan) Collierville, TN; his cousins Terry Rogers (Pat) in Houston, Texas; Jill Rogers and Anne Dittimar in North Houston, and Dennis Rogers in Hemphill, Texas. Last but certainly not least he will be missed by his niece Leigh Anne Williams in Knoxville, Tennessee. The family wants to thank all the members of Spring Gate Nursing Home who worked with Jerry over the years. We all appreciate your dedication and attention to his needs.
