Iva Maxine Young
Iva Maxine (Adams) Young, passed away into eternity on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was born the fifth daughter to Samuel J. and Rosa Mae Adams near Bowersville, OH on April 27, 1939. She was graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957 and went to Miami Jacobs Beauty College in Dayton, OH. Iva married Johnnie F. Young on December 28, 1963 in the Bowersville Church of Christ by her brother-in-law Rev. Harold A. Backer. She worked many jobs over the years. She was a substitute hair dresser for several years at Jessies Beauty Salon in Bowersville, OH. She worked for a time at Ray Balls Beauty Salon in Jamestown, OH, Eavey Co., Xenia, OH, Randall Co. Wilmington, Avon Corp., International Leisure Co. and Sears of Springfield. She was part of the Golden Girls at Sears. Iva enjoyed reading, games, card playing and spending time with her grandson, Gage. She was a member of the Homemakers Club at Asbury Methodist Church, North Hampton, OH for several years. She leaves her husband of 51 years, Johnnie F. Young, Urbana; sons, Jay F. Young, Urbana, and Daniel A. Young of Baltimore, OH; grandson, Gage Daniel Joseph Young, son of Daniel; and special friends, the Golden Girls of Sears, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dunlavy of Urbana, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright of Jamestown and Mr. and Mrs. Eudell Konkright of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Madeline Frances Adams of Bowersville, Dorothy Jean Joseph of Fairborn, Martha Kathleen Knife of Alliance and Northa Lucille Backer of Lisbon, OH. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in New Maple Grove Cemetery in Port William, OH. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Darr and the medical staff at Vancrest for their dedication for Iva during her stay.
