Margaret Ellen Hughes, 71, of Canaan passed away November 16, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hopital. She was the daughter of the late Ruby Irene (Hughes) Whiston.

Margaret was proud to take care of others and this is why she chose a career as a Health Care Worker. She travelled and lived in Ellershouse as a child, moving to Ottawa, ON then finally moving back to Nova Scotia, she retired in Canaan.

She is survived by her siblings Pat (Jerry) Whiston, Cambridge; Kevin (Carol) Whiston, Kentville; Gary Whiston, Kentville; Joan (Wayne) Ferris, Kentville; Michael (Pam) Whiston, Coldbrook; sister-in-law Judy Brown, Kentville; and her good friends Carol and Fred Caston and Gerri and Aubrey Keddy; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her mother, Margaret was predeceased by brothers Darrell and Randy; sisters in infancy Frances and Heather.

A Service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Berwick Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Berwick Funeral Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900).
