Loretta Theresa Dionne Obituary

Loretta T. (LeBel) Dionne, age 96 passed away peacefully November 16, 2019 at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a struggle with dementia. She was born and raised in Beverly. She was the daughter of the late Vital and Josephine (Labrie) LeBel. Before starting a family she worked at United Shoe Machinery Corp during WWII. For most of her life she was a stay at home Mom. When her youngest child was in school she worked as a sales clerk at McCarthy/Sawtell Stationery Store, in downtown Beverly, for many years. She took great pride in helping customers find the perfect card and helping students with their book report assignments. Always with a smile. She was a lifetime communicant of St Alphonse Church until its closing in 2004. Loretta was involved in many church activities and attended Mass almost every morning, walking from her home most days. Her trip to the Holy Land, with her church friends in 1980, was something she would talk about for many years. One of the highlights of the trip was her riding a camel. Having lived most of her life on the waterfront in Ryal Side she was a natural “Esther Willams”. Her home was her castle and all were welcome. There was always a banana bread and a pot of American Chop Suey or a bowl of corn chowder ready for friends and relatives. At Christmas time she would invite everyone to come see her beautiful tree. Her children meant the world to her. She was a very proud mother, always boasting about their accomplishments. Me’mere loved her grandchildren and they loved every minute spent with her. Sleepovers were always a fun time. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, her sister Yvonne and her dear friend Sophie. Pokeno, poker, whist were very popular or a good game of five hundred rummy. If there was a bus leaving for Foxwoods she was ready to go. Yard sales were a good source of entertainment, she just loved a bargain. She enjoyed her trips to NYC where her son treated her like a queen. Everyone who knew her will remember her laugh, her smile and the big hugs that would almost hurt. Rest in peace Ma we will love you forever. She is survived by two daughters, Christine L. Coletti and her husband Jack of Danvers, Doreen A. Repetto and her husband Mike of Reading; two sons, Daniel L. Dionne of FL & NY, Norman R. Dionne and his wife Susan of Savannah,GA; two grandchildren Christine and Timothy Repetto several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George L Dionne, two grandsons, Dennis G. Parsons, Jr. and Stephen W. Parsons; 3 brothers, Leo, Euclid and Laurent LeBel; six sisters, Yvonne Dechene, Marion Hillary, Grace Walker, Mary Jane Chalupowski, Germaine Fugere and Pauline Smorczewski.
