Jennie Satchell Obituary

Jennie Louise Satchell, was born on December 30, 1945 and departed this life on November 16, 2019 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Maggie Bailey; sister, O’Neida Howard; and brothers, Preston Poulson and Roland Bailey. Louise was educated in the Accomack County School system. She started her career at Perdue Farms and worked there for twenty-five years. She later gained employment at Eastern Shore Seafood and dedicated ten years of service. “Weezy” or “Ma Weezy,” as she was lovingly known, worshipped and was baptized at St. Luke AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Floyd Nedab. Later in life, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of House of Refuge Temple under the leadership of Pastor Sallie Heath Owens. In recent years, she joined the congregation of Anointed Word of Deliverance Ministries, Inc. under the guidance of Pastor Samuel Smith. She loved to worship and fellowship with her church family. Weezy will be remembered for her jovial and loving spirit. She touched so many souls with her beautiful smile and heart. She was truly a genuine person, who always “Kept it real!” as she often said. Weezy was well-known for her famous sweet potato pies and corn pudding; both were made with so much love. Her family was her pride and joy and family gatherings were her favorite times. She also enjoyed watching tennis, especially Venus and Serena, completing crossword puzzles, and sharing stories with family and friends. Weezy also earned the title of “Head Floral Bearer” for Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., because she was always willing to assist at any and all funerals. She will be greatly missed by all. Weezy leaves to cherish her loving memories: sons, Calvin Poulson of Tampa, FL, David “Archie” Bailey of Accomac, VA, and Ryan (Catrina) Satchell of Gargatha, VA; daughter, Felicia (Fernanzer) Moore of Parksley, VA; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alfred Bailey, Jr., Sherwood Bailey, Sr., both of Accomac, VA, Fred (Lillie) Poulson of Parksley, VA, and Larry Bailey of Painter, VA; four sisters, Dianne Cooper of Norfolk, VA, Nancy Byrd of Camden, NJ, Doretha Bailey of Norfolk, VA, and Ruth Bailey of West Palm Beach, FL; many special friends, too numerous to name and a few special daughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
