Eileen Lacy Hot Springs, Arkansas Obituary

Eileen Lacy

Eileen Lacy, age 97, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 17, 2019. From her birth to death, she encouraged everyone she met with love, faith and joy. She was born on August 18, 1922, in Cedar Glades, Arkansas, as the only child of Ruey and Ida Ault. Its safe to say that she was always her parents favorite. Everyday she ran back to her parents general store just to get a candy bar, but she ate enough for about six people. Then, when she was in high school, she met her husband James. James and Eileen married on April 27, 1940, a year after meeting. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 76 years, James Lacy; and parents Ruey and Ida Ault. Eileen had several jobs throughout her lifetime, the two most prominent were as a bookkeeper at Hot Springs High School and as a bookkeeper for her husbands service stations. No matter what job she had, she put her whole heart into it. Eileens love for helping others and servants heart led her to volunteer at National Park Medical Center for over 30 years. She worked in various parts of the hospital, ending her time with serving at the information desk. The delight of helping others overjoyed her. Eileen taught Sunday school for several years and penned poems for each lesson she taught. She was an avid member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. When Eileen wasnt volunteering or working, you could find her out fishing. When growing up, her dad always took her fishing, so she knew all his tips and tricks. She was always a better fisherman than James, but sometimes she let him get the catch of the day. If she wasnt fishing, you could find her watching golf or doing puzzles, cryptograms and crosswords. The biggest joy of her life was the family she created. Her faith and relationship with God has carried much farther than she could ever imagine. Her legacy will live on forever. She is survived by her two sons, Bob and Betty Lacy of Hot Springs and Russ and Carolyn Lacy of Russellville; four grandchildren, Heather and Matt Leavell of Conway, Zac and Amber Lacy of Russellville, Scott and Kassie Lacy and Josh and Brittany Lacy, all of Hot Springs; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2019, in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
