Rea C. Albarello Of Arlington Heights Rea Concetta Albarello (nee Filippo), age 93, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, formerly of West Pullman, peacefully passed away on November 16, 2019. She is the beloved wife of 46 years of the late Bruno Venanzio Albarello; cherished mother of Anthony, Bruno (Brenda), and Margherita (Harry Himelman) Albarello. Adored Nonni of Lisa (Steve) Kroll, David Himelman, Kristina (Steven) Pankow, and Francesca Himelman. Devoted daughter of Antonio and Maria (nee Calvano) Filippo, from San Lucido and Paola, Calabria, Italy. Dear sister of the late Santo “Sam” (Adeline) Filippo and fond aunt, cousin, and wise confidant to many. Rea and Sam were born and raised in the Burnside neighborhood of Chicago and grew up surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rea and Bruno met on a blind date on New Year’s Eve, where they celebrated at Barney’s Club on Langley Avenue in the Town of Pullman. Rea never learned to swim or ride a bike, but won numerous playground medals at Perry Elementary School. After graduating from Fenger High School, Rea received her radiology certificate and worked as an X-ray Technician at Woodlawn Hospital (Chicago), where her most famous patient was Charles Atlas. Rea loved to travel and especially reveled in the freedom and randomness of road trips. Her athletic prowess continued into her senior years, during which she developed many deep friendships through her love of golf and bowling. Visitation Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, IL 60004, where prayers will be said on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 8:45 am proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 South Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL for Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Graveside interment will be at 11:30 am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th Street, Alsip, IL 60803.
