Marietta A. Leighton Lubec Marietta A. Leighton, 56, passed away with family and friends by her side on November 16th, 2019 in Machias Maine. She was born on August 13th, 1963, in Lubec, the daughter of Carlton and Linda (Dennison) Leighton of Lubec Maine. Marietta graduated from Lubec High School in 1982. She was a cheerleader throughout high school. She had a love for church and singing and was a member of the church choir for many years. She loved kids and spent a lot of time with friends and relatives watching little ones and she would sing and dance with them for hours. During her younger years she spent many summers at her family’s summer cottage spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the summer months and loved spending time with her brother Dale picking all the different berries throughout the summer. She also loved to travel and visited Hawaii twice which she truly loved. She was an avid reader of all types of books. She is survived by her father Carlton Leighton of Lubec Maine, brothers Dean Leighton of Newark, Delaware and Dale Leighton of Lubec Maine. Her nieces and nephews Dean Leighton currently living in Stuttgart Germany, Ashley Graber of New Castle, Delaware and Patrick Leighton of Lubec, Maine. Great nieces and nephews Addy Graber and Declan Graber of New Castle Delaware, Kate Leighton of Brewer, Maine and Allen Leighton currently residing in Stuttgart, Germany and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She loved everyone and was loved by many as was so evident by the number of friends and family that came to visit with her during her last few days on earth. She was predeceased by her beloved mother Linda on March 26, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday November 21, 2019 at the Christian Temple Church, 41 Main Street, Lubec immediately followed by a reception in the Mary S. Pike Hall.
