Kevin Randall Ortmann, 40, of Remsen passed away from Glioblastoma on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA.  Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday.  There will be a rosary and a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at the Church. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  Condolences may be sent online to <a href="http://www.fischfh.com/">www.fischfh.com</a>.  Kevin was born April 2, 1979 to Randy &amp; Connie (Loutsch) Ortmann in Le Mars, IA. He was raised and educated in Remsen, graduating from Remsen-Union High School in 1997.  He then attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA, graduating in 1999 with a degree in heavy equipment operation.  Kevin worked for Schoen Construction, Plymouth County Landfill, Arens Trucking, Triple R Trucking, His Uncle Charlie and Oyens Co-Op. On Oct. 7, 2006 he married Heather Weiler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.  The couple continued living in Remsen, where in Nov. 2010 Kevin started working for the City of Remsen.  Kevin was the City’s Public Works Superintendent until retiring from the city Jan. 1, 2019 because of health reasons.  Kevin was first diagnosed Feb. 28, 2018 and on March 1, 2018 he had brain surgery. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Remsen Fire Department and Remsen EMS.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing with good buddies and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Heather of Remsen, three children, Cole Weiler, Kellen and Blaine Ortmann all of Remsen; his parents, Randy and Connie Ortmann of Remsen; two brothers, Keith Ortmann of Waukee, IA, Kyle (Hilary) Ortmann of Grimes, IA; one brother-in-law, Eric (Laura) Weiler of Le Mars, IA; one sister-in-law, Amber Bock of Le Mars, IA; his grandpa, Ray Loutsch of Remsen; his in-laws, Jerry and Gwen Weiler of Le Mars, IA; Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roman (Irene) Ortmann, maternal grandmother, Joan Loutsch; aunt, Carol Bates; brother-in-law, Randy Bock; cousin, Amy Loutsch; uncle, Walter Brummer; nephew, Caleb Weiler; niece, Macy Weiler. Casket Bearers will be Nick Pick, Rocky Bork, Reese Bock, Mark Gaskill, Chris Poeckes, Justin Tentinger, Ruth Grage and Rachel Keffeler. Honorary bearers will be the Remsen Fire Department, Remsen EMS and Remsen City Employees.
