Laura J. Niziolek, 98, of Donora, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Residence at Hilltop, Monongahela.
She was born in Donora on August 21, 1921, a daughter of the late George and Josephine Kawa Szymczyk.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Niziolek, her son, Edward A. Niziolek, a granddaughter, Renee Brown, and four siblings, Jessie Vargo, Stella Wawrzynski, Edward Szymczyk, and Frank Simchak.
A lifelong resident of Donora, Laura was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church and the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
Laura worked for the Diocese of Pittsburgh as a bookkeeper. She loved to sew and bake. Her speciality was chocolate chip cookies and lemon squares.
Laura was very family oriented and was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Kantor of Texas and Gerri Niziolek of Donora; two grandchildren, Marie Niziolek and Matthew Kantor; a brother, John Szymczyk; a special niece, Mary Anne Bandalo of Donora; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second Street Extension, Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where family and friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora.
Interment will follow in St. Dominic Cemetery, Donora, PA.
