Lon R. Coleman, 81, of Plattsburgh, formerly AuSable Forks, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY. Born in Richlands, Va. on October 8, 1938 he was the third born of seven children to the late Fon and Dovie (Rose) Coleman. Lon was a quiet, humble man who enjoyed the comfort of his home, family gatherings and good conversation. He was fond of hunting and fishing and liked nothing better than observing the beauty of nature and wildlife at first hand. Lon proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a past member of the AuSable Forks Jaycees and Lions club and the AuSable Valley Sportsmen's Association. Lon was also a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Along with his parents, Lon was predeceased by his brothers Clifford (2018) and Randall (2006), his sister Betty Hackney (2007) and his son-in-law John Anderson (2005). He is survived by Patricia Coleman and their six daughters; twins - Karen (Michael) Cross and Kathy (Ricky) Siddon, Suzanne Anderson, Cynthia (Kevin) Smart, Donna Coleman and Pamela (William) Baldridge. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In addition, his brothers Kermit and Donnie as well as sister Carol Phillips survive. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Church in Plattsburgh with Rev. William G. Reamer, celebrating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in the spring of 2020 at St. Peter's Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff at the CVPH Skilled Nursing Facility, especially Dr. Guile, for the outstanding care, compassion and professionalism provided throughout his stay.
