Louis James Harrison, 82-year-old Vinita resident, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore. He was born on April 25, 1937 in Vinita to Grover Cleveland Harrison and Mabel (Wright) Harrison. Louis attended Vinita Schools. He married Lona Lois Beck, who preceded him in death on February 10, 2009. He served his country in the United States Army, he was stationed in Antarctica and flew in a helicopter to the South Pole. Louis owned and operated Anderson Machine Shop in Vinita for many years. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita. Louis loved to go fishing, working at his church and most of all he loved spoiling his grandkids. Those family members preceding him in death include, his wife Lona Lois Harrison; two daughters, Lona Ann Saffer and Shawna Harrison; a son Louis Jeffery Harrison on September 23, 2018 and a granddaughter Amanda Saffer; siblings, Grover, Bill and John Harrison, Joyce Secondine and Evelyn Sue Jones. The family includes: his son, Matthew Harrison and wife Rhonda of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Bob Harrison of Vinita, sisters, Thelma Harris and husband Ed of Broken Arrow and Virginia Graves of Pryor; a daughter in-law, Heather Harrison of Vinita; grandchildren, Gavin and Jacob Harrison, Heather Saffer, Brody Harrison; great-grandchildren, Nakayla and Noah Saffer. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel. The celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita with Pastors Jesse Kincade and Will Busch officiating.
