Charles W. Blakney

Mr. Charles William Blakney passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at The Greens & Fountains Assisted Living Facility in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Age 71 years. He was born on September 8, 1948 to Johnny and Sarah Gray-Blakney. Charles attended Saginaw Public Schools and received his GED. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early agee. Prior to his illness, he attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Burt, Michigan with his family. Mr. Blakney worked in construction, specializing in driveways and sidewalks. He was an entrepreneur in the true sense of doing business. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed fishing and working on vehicles. He was a very giving person, opening his home to anyone who needed a place to stay. Even though he did not seek to be in the limelight, Charles was known for feeding the homeless, and he was very much involved at the Cleveland City Mission. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him, and whose lives he touched. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Sabrina Blakney; two sons, Andre (Winifred) Blakney and Richard (Sharonda) Blakney; grandchildren, LaQuita Blakney, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Adrianna Steele, DeAngela, Chariel and Alvin Blakney all of Cleveland, Ohio, Charyaan Chambers, Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Elijah McCloud, Jr., Aria Durden, Aniyah Blakney and Dakari Motley; three sisters-in-law, Hazel (Arthur) Richardson, Betty (Johnny) Blakney and Diane (John Henry) McMillon; brother-in-law, Richard Edwards; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mr. Blakney was preceded in death by his mother and father, Johnny and Sarah Blakney, wife, Linda Blakney, brother, William Blakney, sister, Barbara Edwards, mother and father-in-law, Johnny and Helen Williams; two sisters-in-law, Sterling Williams and Geneva Martin, and brother-in-law, Larry Williams. The family wishes to expresses special thanks to Charles Taylor of Taylor Funeral and Cremation Service in Euclid, Ohio, and Ivan E.
