Barbara Romero Richard

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Barbara Romero Richard, 80, who passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Belle Teche Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Korey LaVergne will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, and will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am. A rosary, led by Deacon Durk Viator, will be prayed at 5:00 pm on Sunday. A native and resident of New Iberia, Barbara Romero Richard was born on February 4, 1939. She worked as a secretary at Azalea Villa Nursing Home for 16 years, then worked at the Rosary House making rosaries. Barbara was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, making rosaries, crocheting, and cooking/baking, but her greatest joy was time spent with her family, who anxiously awaited her Christmas cookies every year. She will be deeply missed. Mrs. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Hilton Richard; sons, David Richard of Jeanerette and Mark Richard of New Iberia; daughters, Sally Romero and husband Randal, and Tina Richard, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Drake Richard, Corey Richard, Brad Richard, Del Richard, Carli Richard, Lance Richard, Kimberly Richard, Sean Romero, Kyle Romero, Beth Viator and spouse Cody, and Jamie Bourque and spouse Kelly; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Richard; a brother, Jimmy Romero, Sr.; father, Adet Romero; mother, Levie Hulin Gachassin; step-father, Wilfred Gachassin; and her in-laws, Joseph and Eola Richard. Pallbearers will be David Richard, Sean Romero, Kyle Romero, Jamie Bourque, Cody Viator, Sean Michael Romero, Jr., Tommie Renard, and Lance Richard.
