James Edward Harrell Obituary

James Edward Harrell, Sr. was born on August 18, 1942 to Ulysee Harrell and Annie L. Harrell in Richland, Georgia (Stewart County) . He departed this life after a lengthy illness, November 11, 2019. James was preceded in death by his wife Julia Harrell, (Parents) Ulysee and Annie Harrell (One sister), Sara Thomas , (Two brothers), Johnny Harrell and Robert Harrell. He leaves to cherish his memories: (Children) James Harrell, Timothy Harrell, Edward (Vondarryl) Harrell, Bernard Harrell, Gloria (Thomas) Jennings, and Valerie (Larry) McClendon. Grandchildren: Edzemeum Harrell, Edrick Harrell, Edward Harrell, Jr., Monica Harrell, Gefora Harrell, Timothy Harrell, Jr., Anwar Rashad Harrell, Tania Jarmon, Ashley Harrell, Lindsay Harrell, and Jordan Harrell Sisters: Marie Bardge, Rosie Sheppard, Katie Tremble, and Mamie Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. James was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He loved to travel and this was evident in the career and profession he chose throughout his life. For many years, he was a mover and long distance truck driver. This profession allowed him to travel all over the United States where he successfully navigated the highways and byways of our country as he worked for companies such as Mayflower, Atlas, Suddath Van Lines, and Winn Dixie. James super-exceeded the phrase, “Keep on Truckin”. Uncle Jill as he was affectionately known by his nieces and nephews was an avid CB handler, his handle name was Gator. When Gator pulled his eighteen wheeler onto Van Gundy Road, everyone knew Gator was home. He loved motorcycles and started a local chapter in the Jacksonville area. James loved wrestling and when he was not on the road, he and his sister Mamie and late brother-in-law, Lacey often went to see WWF Wrestling. His zest for life showed in everything he did. In his latter life, he joined New Zion Baptist Church and served as a deacon in the church. James was a savvy dresser and his million dollar watt smile will be missed, but never forgotten. James will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. A champion of the Lord; James kept his eyes on the prize and now he is in the loving arms of the Lord.
