Lola Atwell Montgomery
Mrs. Lola Atwell Montgomery, 83, passed away Saturday (November 16, 2019) at her residence in Waycross following an extended illness. She was born in Crestview, FL to the late Clifford Atwell and Goldie Harris Atwell. She married Luther Lee Montgomery on June 27, 1952 and both lived in Valdosta from 1955 until 2007 before moving to Waycross. She retired in 1982 after 15 years of employment from Owen Illinois Corporation in Valdosta and following retirement she owned and operated Lola’s Daycare in Valdosta. She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Valdosta and current member of Second Baptist Church in Waycross. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband Luther Lee Montgomery; her step-father, Kenneth Mckinney; two sisters, Lois Davis and Mary Davenport; and a brother, Donald Mckinney. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Sweat (Chris) of Blackshear; a son, Robert Montgomery (Susan) of Hinesville; grandchildren, Wayne Pinkerton (Jamie), Josh Pinkerton, Jason Montgomery (Heather), Chris McRae (Callie), and Christopher Sweat; great grandchildren, Dagan Boone, Jalie Montgomery, Lacey Montgomery, Weston McRae, Braxton McRae, Madison McRae, Mary Ellen Poppell, Asher McCarty, Hayden McCarty, and Gabe McCarty; a brother, Ronald McKinney of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday (November 19, 2019) at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening at Music Funeral Home from 5 until 7 o’clock.December 6, 1935 - November 16, 201912/06/193511/16/2019
