Kathy Marie Bringle Obituary

Kathy Marie Bringle, 70, passed away, November 16, 2019, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee, of which she was a member. Please join the family in the parish hall for a luncheon. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, IA. Kathy was born October 7, 1949, in Sac City, IA, to Raymond and Dorothy (Drey) Landgraf. On August 1, 1970, she married Donald Bringle at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, IA. Kathy and Don owned Don's Foodland, the local grocery store in Sioux Rapids, IA, for nine years before moving to the Des Moines area. Kathy was a Registrar at Heartland AEA for 20 years and loved the friendships she built at her work. Kathy lived a life full of love. Love for her faith, her family (especially her grandchildren), and the love of serving others. She led by example and made God her first priority and trusted in Him unequivocally. Her passion to serve the Lord also strengthened the faith of others around her. She used her love of God and family as her fuel and she was always full of energy. It was rare to catch her sitting down, as she was always tending to everyone else’s needs. Her priority in life was to put others first and her family will forever be grateful for that. Kathy’s legacy as the family’s Lake Okoboji vacation organizer will live in legend. She is the reason why 70 plus family members relaxed up at Okoboji as a family for one week every other year. She took on the responsibility of determining where each person would stay, made sure everyone had everything they needed, and most importantly, that they had fun and spent time together as family. Kathy was bound and determined to make it to every baptism/first communion/confirmation, every sporting event, and any special event for all seven grandchildren. She was the most supportive and loving grandmother, the best sugar cookie baker, and never missed an opportunity to yell “get in their face!” at basketballs games. As a mother and mother-in-law, she was unmatched. She treated her daughters-in-law as if they had always been part of the family. When her grandchildren were born, she made sure the new moms got their rest, and tended to her new grandchildren and any household needs. That commitment extended to her siblings, nieces and nephews - she never missed the chance to take four-hour drives or cross-country flights to attend every possible family wedding or graduation. She truly lived to make other people’s lives better. Her legacy of faith, love, and commitment to family will live on through all those who survive her. Kathy is survived by her son, Mike Bringle, and wife, Jerrie, grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Halle, of Waukee, IA; son, David Bringle, and wife, Tara, grandchildren, Lincoln, Wyatt, and Penelope, of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Amy Marcotte of Des Moines, IA and granddaughter, Kaitlyn, of Omaha, NE; four sisters, Julie (David) Thelen of North Platte, NE, Paula Landgraf of Iowa City, IA, Anne (Mark) Miller of Adel, IA, and Carol (Pat) Lenhart of Storm Lake, IA; three brothers, Gerald (Barbara) Landgraf of Albuquerque, NM, Tom (Sue) Landgraf of Mason City, IA, and John (Joyce) Landgraf of Storm Lake, IA; brother-in-law, Michael Schipfman of Minneapolis, MN and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, and sister, Sue Schipfman. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee where a vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Boniface Church or the Iowa Right to Life.
