He was baptized in Aurora, IL and also in the Jordan River in Israel in 2014. Bob attended and graduated from East Aurora High School in 1961 in Illinois. In February of 1962, he enlisted and entered the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Andrew Jackson, a Nuclear Polaris Submarine. He spent months aboard the submarine, at times travelling through enemy territory. Bob went through difficult trainings and assignments to earn his “dolphins”, which was a great accomplishment. Bob was honorably discharged in June of 1966. Bob married Karen in 1969, they had two children Tara in 1970 and Ethan in 1972. Bob married DeeAnn (Shegrud) Syverson on December 30, 1994 in Bagley, Minnesota. Bob worked various types of jobs. He was an electrical technician/engineer/designer, salesman, teacher, and even drove a laundry truck for a day. Through his extensive training in the Navy, Bob worked engineering and designing hydraulics and panels for multiple companies throughout the United States. But, of all his jobs, he was most passionate about his electrical work. He started as a technician, became an electrical inspector for the State of Minnesota, and eventually started his own business with a friend called “Kingsway Electric” where he worked until his retirement. Even after retirement, he spent countless hours helping family and friends with electrical projects. Bob had a strong faith and loved Jesus. He liked reading, listen to blue grass gospel music, enjoyed eating, and was a dedicated grandparent by attending all the grandkids sporting events. He adored his grandchildren and could talk them into anything, and they could talk him into anything. He loved his wife and loved his family very much.
