Shirley Johnson

Shirley Johnson, 76, of Kansas City, Kansas was born September 22, 1939 in Florence, Missouri to Helen and Earl Homan. She was a waitress and a very good child care provider to many families. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts; most of all loved spending time with her family. She is survived by 3 siblings: Ronald (Shirley) Homan and Betty (Vaughn) Hart of Sedalia, MO and Bonnie (Donnie) Lemler of Smithton, MO; Children: Bonnie (Ritch) Nigh, Frank (Mary) Johnson, Terry Johnson (Anna), Kim Johnson (Russell), and Scott Johnson (Angela); 4 grandchildren: Amber Nigh, Matthew Nigh, Jesse Johnson, Alexa Rae (Dustin) Davis; 2 great-grandchildren Charlie & Elijah Davis. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by the father of her children Franklin Johnson, Sr. Mrs. Johnson passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home. There will be a private family gathering to honor her life to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made towards her funeral expenses by calling Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Ave, KCK. 913-371-0699.

As my childhood neighbor growing up I have many memories of Shirley and the Johnson family. Will never forget as a child Shirley would make me ice cream cones and ply me with cookies when I was over. A wonderful woman that I remember. My condolences to the family.
