Elizabeth C. Keiser, born November 28, 1917 to Hungarian parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Szabo) Chea, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the age of 101. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by her parents, her brothers: Joseph, Louis, Frank and Alexander; and sisters: Ann, Helen and Elsie. In April, 2014, Elizabeth lost her much-loved son, Martin J. Laidacker and two years later her daughter-in-law, Anne (Ferro) Laidacker. Elizabeth was raised on Second Ave. in Berwick and attended Berwick schools. In her teens she began working for the various sewing factories in Berwick. She married Earl Laidacker in 1937. While she was busy raising her own family, she remained devoted to her parents and their welfare. In 1966, she married John W. Keiser and subsequently moved to Watsontown. There she became a co-owner of the Watson Inn. She also was a long time volunteer at the Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg. An active member of the Watsontown Lioness Club, she served as president in 1998. In 1999, wanting to be near her remaining family, she returned to Berwick. Elizabeth worked hard throughout her life but also had a love for social activities and travel. She visited many states including Alaska and Hawaii. She also enjoyed cruises to various islands and visited Oberammergau, for the passion play. She loved and enjoyed it all. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter: Judith Dubil and her husband Alex, of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Lisa Stachelski and her husband Paul, West Seneca, NY, Ellen Harpel and her husband Douglas, Arlington, VA, Alex Dubil, Jr., Bloomsburg, Valerie Brighton and her husband Eric, State College; six great grandchildren: Jordan and Joshua Stachelski, Caroline and Anna Harpel, John and Chelsea Brighton; and also an extended family of nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to thank the staff, past and present, of the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care, kindness and laughter they provided Elizbeth these last 10 years of her life. Thank you, Father Tamburro for your visits, which lifted her spirits. Thank you, Monsignor Lawrence and the ladies of St. Columba parish for your visits, prayers, Mass and Communion. Thank you to all who stopped, said a word and gave a smile. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick with the Very Reverend Francis J. Tamburro,V.F., officiating as Celebrant. Following Mass, Elizabeth will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Briar Creek, among her family she so dearly loved and cared for during her lifetime.
