LISKA – Mildred B. “Milly” (Kaufman), 102, Davidsville died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 9, 2019. Born at her home in Jenner Township, Somerset County on February 2, 1917 the 14th of 15 children. Daughter of John M. and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; husband John Liska; grandson Justin Liska; brothers Leon, Ralph, Martin, John, Harry and Jim Kaufman and sisters Louella, Edna, Mary, Katy, Erma, Daisy, Grace and Hazel. Survived by children Judy (David) Brotz, with whom Milly resided in Davidsville; Kay (Jerry) Hoffman, Maryville, TN; John “Chick” (Gayle) Liska, Davidsville, David (Cindy) Liska, Davidsville, Dennis Liska, Boswell and Wendy (Robert) Figard, Boswell; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. A 1934 graduate of Boswell High School. Member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Davidsville, where she participated in the choir, Knotty Ladies, Adult Sunday School class and Lutheran Church Women. Also a member of Seventh Society of Farm Women. Milly loved singing and playing the piano and was a member of the Singing Kaufman Sisters. She enjoyed playing games of any kind and was a member of several card clubs. Milly also loved to travel and vacationed at the Outer Banks in North Carolina for 62 years. For the past 18 years she and her daughters would take annual mother-daughter trips together. However, the most important mantra in Milly’s long and wonderful life was faith and family which is her legacy and an example to all her knew her. Viewing from 4-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Funeral service 11AM Wednesday at St. David’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Faron H. Johnson presiding. Interment Jennerstown Lutheran Cemetery.
