Leslie Lyman McKnight Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital, Met Campus. Les is survived by wife Barbara of 61 years and son Jim (Shirley), grandsons Wayne, Paul, and Craig, their partners and children, brothers John (Sara), Neil, Ron (Norma), Randy, Brian, and sisters Ethel, Marion, Lila, Cheryl, and Martha. Pre-deceased by parents William and Maude, brothers Tom, Joseph, Vern, and sister Bernadette. Les retired from the Windsor Police Service and served also with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force. Les truly enjoyed his work with the police departments. He was active in the community, volunteering with the Windsor Goodfellows receiving the Goodfellow of the Year Award, and the Lions Club in Goderich and Grand Bend receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services. Les enjoyed sports, especially baseball, hockey, golf, and enjoyed being a sofa coach with the TV commentators on Saturday night hockey. Les will be dearly missed as he gave us all a great deal of love and is dearly loved in return by his family and friends. Les has requested no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. There will be a family remembrance and fellowship at a later date. For those who wish, donations in remembrance to the Windsor Goodfellows or Brentwood Recovery Home would be appreciated. Les, this is written with love mixed with our tears of loss, and thankfulness for having you in our lives.
