Janet Meade, 78 of Verdunville, WV departed this life Saturday, November 9, 2019 at her residence. She was born April 30, 1941 at Verdunville to the late Woodrow Wilson and Della (Stone) Carey. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Meade; son, Kevin Meade; brothers, Claude Ray Carey, Paul Carey, Franklin Carey, Joe Carey, and Michael Carey. Janet worked part-time at Kroger for 14 years. She was of the Christian faith and was very kindhearted. She also loved music. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Powers; sister, Sylvia Jean (Glen) Mullins; grandchildren, Kasey Meade, Sean Powers, and Evan Powers. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday November 13, 2019 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Bias officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
