Phyllis M. (Callaghan) Bloedow, 84, of Arlington, died after a brief illness on November 8, 2019 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Dale A. Bloedow, Sr. Phyllis was born in Somerville, MA, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Cronin) Callaghan. She was raised and educated in Somerville attending St. James High School before moving to Arlington, MA where she has resided and made a loving home for her family for 68 years. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Bloedow worked as a caregiver attending to the elderly helping to keep them in their own homes, also as a private nanny. For many years she was employed by St. Agnes Church as the ceramic’s teacher at the Fidelity House. A communicant of St. Camillus Church in Arlington she and her husband were avid boaters and members of both the Winter Hill Yacht Club in Somerville and the Charlesgate Yacht Club in Cambridge. Proud of her Irish heritage Phyllis was a member of the Irish American Club in Arlington. She is survived by her sons, Robert E. of Arlington, Karl A. and fiancée Nelda Velasquez of Arlington; daughter Barbara M. Miele and husband Paul of Burlington; granddaughter Angelina K. Miele; Sister-in-law LaVerne Bloedow of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews, Gene Ferola and wife Nancy, Jimmy Ferola and wife Collette, Kathy Messuri and husband Freddy, Susan Martignetti and husband Danny, Mae Travia and husband Joe, Mark Bloedow, David Bloedow, Heidi Mishler and husband Jeff, Theresa Bloedow, and Darlene Mahoney. Predeceased by her parents, husband, son Dale A. Bloedow, Jr., sister Frances Ferola and her husband John, brother-in-law, Ed ward Bloedow and nephew Jack Ferola. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. (Rt. 60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Wednesday Nov. 13th from 4:00 to 8:00pm and her funeral Mass in St. Camillus Church, 1185 Concord Turnpike, Arlington on Thursday Nov. 14th at 10am, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.
