Steven R. Woodward, Sr.

Steven R. Woodward, Sr, age 76, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness. Steve was born in Eugene, OR September 17, 1943. He has been a resident of Princeton for most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia Jean Sewell Woodward; two sons, Steve Woodward, Jr. and wife, Betty of Princeton; Eric Woodward and wife, Marla of Belton; three grandchildren, Callie Woodward of Princeton, Hunter and Makayla Woodward of Belton; one sister, Diane Lay and husband, Gary of Elmira, OR. He was the son of Ralph and Jean Stinchcomb Woodward of Eugene, OR. He grew up along the northern California coast in logging country. Steve honorably served three years in the United States Army as a 101st Airborne Division Paratrooper in the B Company 187 infantry and as a tuba player in the 101st Airborne Division Band. He retired from the Wood Wire and Metal Lathers Local 237, Paducah, KY; he also retired from the Carpenters Local 357, Paducah, KY and as a correctional officer at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex, Fredonia, KY. He enjoyed writing songs, playing the guitar and tinkering in his workshop. His remains will be cremated and spread along the Oregon coastline near the Heceta Head Lighthouse. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to HR Ministries, PO Box 311, Princeton, KY 42445.
