Elgin Lawrence Scott, Jr. was born on October 12, 1954, to the late Elgin L. Scott and Millie Lou (Hill) Scott in Memphis, TN. He attended Magnolia Elementary School and graduated in the Melrose High Scool Class of 1972. At Melrose, Elginplayed football and was a member of the Gaylords Social Club. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
After his discharge, he returned to Memphis and began a career in hospitality/food services, initially working with his family's catering company, Scott's Catering. He later worked for Holiday Corporation, serving as the maitre d' at Chervill's, the formal restaurant in the Crown Plaza downtown. He later became a realtor, initially working at Loyal Featherstone Realtors and then later at Pyramid Realtors in Bartlett.
Elgin married Janice Frazier on October 16, 1983, and to this union, one son, Mychal Nicholas Scott, was born. He also had a son, Elgin L. Scott III, from a previous relationship.
Elgin accepted Christ in his childhood and was baptized at Castalia Baptist Church, where he served as an usher during his youth.
Elgin was preceded in death by two siblings, Erma and Michael.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Janice Frazier-Scott, his sons Elgin and Mychal, his siblings Anne, Claudette, Cheryl, Wesley, and Melvin and one grandson. He also leaves three nieces, four nephews, cousins, and other relatives and close friends.
