Steven Michael Thompson

Steven Michael Thompson, 68, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Steven was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 28, 1950 to Harry V. and Julia M. (Russell) Thompson. He retired from Krieger-Ragsdale after many years of service. Steven was a lifetime member of the Tristate Sport Parachute Club, past vice president, secretary and honorary director of the Oak Hill Conservation Club and he was a member of the Possom Lodge, Chapter 11. Steven played softball for many years and was affectionately known as Duck, although no one could ever explain why. Steven was also a lifetime student of his father, Harry Virgil Thompson. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, camping, playing pool in the league, playing poker and hang gliding. He was a drummer, an ordained minister and a member of the NRA. Steven enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Steven is survived by his wife of 22 years, Susan (James) Thompson of Evansville, IN; his daughters, Shellie M. Thompson-Whittaker (Terry) of Ft. Branch, IN, Shauna L. Thompson of Evansville, IN and Kelsee R. Keitel of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Dana S. Mills of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Nathan M. Thompson and Ciaran D.Whittaker; and many nieces and nephews. Uncles, cousins and other extended family members also survive. Steven was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Steven's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Ron Kirkwood officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Browning Funeral Home and again from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Steven Thompson Scholarship Fund for Education.
