Barbara Jean Fisher Obituary

Barbara Jean Fisher, age 87, died peacefully at her home in Ann Arbor, on Saturday, November 9th, 2019, after a long illness. She was born in Ann Arbor, on January 31, 1932, to Raymond Wurster and Annie (London) Wurster.

After graduating from Ann Arbor High School, Barb worked at the S.S. Kresge store and Hoover’s Ball & Bearing Company, before marrying Warren Leigh Fisher on February 6, 1954. She became a wonderful homemaker to him and their two children. They lived in several homes in Ann Arbor and Chelsea. Barbara had a special gift for care-giving, and served many friends and neighbors during their time of need. She always found time to send a card or stop to visit. She loved animals, especially her dogs Puppy, Lucy, and Sadie.

Barb was a life-long member of Bethlehem Church, where she was a member of the I Do’s group, the Holy Rollers German pretzel-making group, and the Mothers’ Study Circle (Mothers’ Study & Auxiliary). She devoted many hours to the Church World Service Project, making health, baby and school kits.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Leigh Fisher.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Warren; a daughter, Sheree (Philip) Peterson of Bayfield, Wisconsin; a granddaughter, Emily, of Wellington, New Zealand; a brother, John (Kathryn) Wurster, a sister, Mary Lou (James) Bancroft, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Arborcrest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or Bethlehem Church.
