NEW BEDFORD-Emma (Antunes) Chantre, 94, of New Bedford, died Friday November 8, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home following a decline in health. She was the daughter of the late Antone and Emelia (Santos) Antunes. Born In New Bedford, she was a lifelong resident and was a parishioner of St. Francis Of Assisi Church. Mrs. Chantre was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In the late 1970's she became a Home Health Aide in private care. Her family includes her 3 daughters, Suzanne A. Martel and her husband, Charles of Dartmouth, Emilia A. Dunkley of Florence, MA and Julia A. Dolak (late husband, Robert) of Belgrade Lakes, Maine; 1 sister, Benvinda Parisi and her husband, John of Fairport, NY; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louis Antunes, Alfred Antunes, Manuel Sylvia, Alice Lopes, Gertrude Reis and Laura Joia. Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 9:30 A.M. Visitation in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.org. Funeral arrangements entrusted to AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen St., New Bedford.
