Napoli, New York Clara L. Milks, 81, of Windmill Road, Town of Napoli, passed away Friday (Nov. 8, 2019) peacefully in her sleep at the Absolut Care Center in Salamanca, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born February 25, 1938 in Johnsonburg, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Elsie Austin. Following the death of her father, her mother was remarried to Walter Biel, whom Clara was proud to call “Dad”. Clara married Eugene M. Milks on June 6, 1975 in Conewango Valley, NY. In addition to being a Home maker, Clara was an ardent crafter, she loved ceramics, wood working, and at one time she had a small based business selling her crafts. She additionally enjoyed sewing, knitting, and one winter evening years ago, she tried teaching her tom boy step-daughter and left handed daughter how to knit, which ended in fruitless futility for all of them. Clara had an uncanny ability to see a photo and then recreate it, without the use of a pattern or guidance. Clara took great pride in their home in rural Napoli, pruning and caring for her roses and flower beds to develop a beautiful country home. Her crafts were present everywhere throughout the house, that she and Gene built with their own hands, making it a warm and inviting home. Clara and Gene where members of the Napoli United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gene Milks, Two sisters; Bonnie and Nancy, sons; Bill (Cindy) Pennington, Norman (Tracy) Pennington, two daughters; Vicki (Bill) Ehman and Kelly (Bud) Doty, a handful of step-children, whom where all proud to call her “MOM”, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Frank and Jack. The family will receive family and friends from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM Thursday (November 14, 2019) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, from where funeral services will follow at Noon. The Rev. Mike Trenchard will officiate. Burial will be in the South Napoli Cemetery.
