Anthony C. Johnsen, Sr. Obituary

Anthony C. Johnsen, Sr., 75, died peacefully in his sleep at home on November 9, 2019 with his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Ann (Miller) Johnsen by his side. Born July 18, 1944 in Bayonne, NJ Tony married his high school sweetheart, Marge in 1962. Throughout their marriage they resided in New Jersey (Bayonne, Somerset, and Middlesex) while raising their four children. In 2005 Tony retired from Conrail as a freight conductor after 40+ years and they moved to Timber Pines in Spring Hill, FL. Proceeded in death by his parents, Bjarne and Rose (Sylvester) Johnsen, his oldest son, Kevin Anthony Johnsen, his twin sister Christina Johnsen Romano, and his brother James Johnsen. He is survived by his loving wife Majorie Ann (Miller) Johnsen, son Richard (Stephanie) Johnsen of New Port Richey, FL, son Tony (Carolyn) Johnsen of Houston, TX, daughter Karen (Robin) Ruark of Milton, DE, cousin/brother Al (Pat) Radomiski of Forked River, NJ, his grandchildren: Ashlee Johnsen Brown, Brandin, Jessica, Christina, Casey, and Maria Johnsen, Zach Zalewski, Taylor and Joe Ruark, Chase and Abbey Ruark, and several nieces and nephews. Known as Poppy, Tony, Dad, PeeWee, AC, Uncle Tony, Anthony, and friend he lived a life filled with family, friends, and good times. Family was the most important thing to him, the driving force of every decision he ever made. He will be immensely missed but his legacy will live on forever in our hearts and our memories. Tony was an avid golfer, enjoyed coaching Little League for many years, was the self-appointed “techie” amongst his friends, an expert researcher, a terrific host, and an Olympic level downhill skier. He fought a valiant battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia since he was diagnosed last September. In line with how he lived his life, he spent the last year continuing to create memorable moments and making sure everything was in order for his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (cmtausa.org).
