Jeanne Slagle Anderson Obituary
Jeanne Slagle Anderson, 89, left this earthly place on November 5, 2019. Jeanne was born October 13, 1930 in Camden, Arkansas. She moved to Hot Springs to complete high school, joining the Delta Beta Sigma Phi Chapter, meeting her lifelong friends Carolyn Campbell, Sissy Freeman and Georgia Skrivanos. During high school while working on the “Torchlight” staff she met the love of her life, Sam Anderson, Sr.
After graduating from Hot Springs High School in 1948, they married in 1952 at First United Methodist Church. Sam entered the military where they were posted to Killeen, Texas, which Jeanne always referred to as “the falling off place”. They moved to Fayetteville where she worked as a secretary and Sam attended law school. They returned home to Hot Springs where Jeanne lived the remainder of her life. She obtained her real estate license later in life. She was a Life Member of Junior Auxiliary, a member of Grow and Show Garden Club, First United Methodist Women, Criterion and always involved in her children’s school organizations. Jeanne was a loving homemaker, mother, and devoted grandmother “Da”. She very much enjoyed golfing, gardening, collecting antiques, and birdwatching. Her most cherished gift was passing on her love for dogs and animals to her children and grandchildren. She adored all of her beloved companions, especially Heidi, Beatrix Potter and Wally.
She is predeceased by her parents, Irene Gray Slagle and James Vernon Slagle, Sr.; sister, Wanda Slagle Baier; brother Richard Lynn Slagle, Sr.; and Sam Anderson, Sr. She is survived by her children, Sam (Kristi) Anderson, Jr. and Pamela Jeanne Anderson; brother, James Vernon (Iris) Slagle, Jr.; and her four “darling” grandchildren, Julie Anderson, Rebecca (Kasey) Schultz, Brad Lovell Jr., and Sydney Ela-Jeanne Lovell.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Garland County, P.O. Box 1484, Hot Springs, AR 71902.
The family would like to thank the kind and loving nurses and caregivers over the years, most especially those going above and beyond in her final days, Ann, Mona Lisa, Ashley, Tori and Andrew.
