Anne M. Martin

Martin, Anne M., age 91, of Hawthorne, on Friday, November 8, 2019. Born and raised in New York City and Long Island, Anne had lived in West Milford and Waldwick for many years before moving to Whiting in 1994. She had lived briefly in River Edge before moving to Hawthorne. Anne had worked as a secretary for Western Union, where she met her husband Bill, and then as a secretary for Ridgewood Realty. Anne was always an active member of her community, especially in Whiting where she volunteered as a receptionist, on the Dance Committee, on the Homeowners Association and as a member of the Trustee Election Committee. She was a representative for Village V, a worker for the Painting Committee and was an avid Line Dancer. Anne also helped with the Luminaries and helped set up for the Newcomers Breakfast. She had been named as the Volunteer of the Year. Anne was the beloved wife of the late William W. Martin (2017). Dear mother of William C. Martin and his wife Christina of Hawthorne. Dear grandmother of Faith Anne Martin, also of Hawthorne, and the late Hope Elizabeth Martin (2014). Funeral will be departing at 8:30am on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne for a 9:00am funeral mass at St. Anthonys R.C. Church, Hawthorne. Interment will follow at the Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Anthony R.C. Church, 276 Diamond Bridge Ave, Hawthorne.
