Frank D. Alvado "Pancho" passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 3, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at the New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hsopital. Frank was born on June 19, 1940 to James and Rose Alvado, of North Tarrytown, NY. Besides his parents, Frank was pre deceased by his two brothers; James and Joseph, his brother-in-law; Charlie Eichenberg, and his beloved grandson Vincent Patrick Altieri. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 30 years Susanne (Conti), his loving daughters; Carmen Halford (Michael), Michele Nunes (Acacio), Donna (Altieri) Alvado, and his adored grand-daughter; Brittany Altieri, along with his two sisters; Carol Ann Hansen (Rick), Gloria Eichenberg, and sister's-in-law; Louise Alvado, and Carol Heller. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many life long friends. Frank was a graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School where he excelled in various sports and continued his love for sports through spectator eyes. He was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees, and the N.Y. Giants, come spring the March Madness Tournaments would fill the gap. It was a common thing to see Frank putting on the Golf course every chance he had, until health issues caused him to explore a new hobby. The kitchen soon became his new putting green, as did special projects around the house. He loved sharing his stories in the company of his family and friends and just when you thought they were coming to an end he would say "and just one more thing." Frank was a loyal employee of General Motors in Tarrytown, NY ending his thirty years of service in a managerial position when he retired. Retirement was brief when he took on his next and most passionate job title as a grandfather to "his boy" Vincent and "his girl" Brittany. He used his management skills at a new level when they reached school age and he accepted the job of getting them off to school and returning to meet them when they got home. As a Foreman he taught them how to be prompt by posting a schedule, setting a time limit for their tasks, making a check list and rewarding them with an allowance, (he even wrote them up when they were tardy.) He loved being part of every event in their lives from Bus Stops, School Concerts, Religious Ceremonies, Sports, and Graduations. Frank loved the U.S.A., The country he proudly served after graduating from High School. His service in the United States Air Force left him with a passion to remember those who were injured. Memorial Mass to honor Frank's legacy will take place at St. Teresa of Avila Church located at 130 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591, on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00am.
